08/05/2007 - TK teaches teachers to kite
Transition Kiteboarding has been engaged by the British Kite Sports Organisation on behalf of Flexifoil and the Suffolk Sports Partnership to deliver powerkite training to 50 teachers over 2 weeks in May. This is being done as part of the Kite Sports in Schools initiative set up by Active England, part of Sport England.
The powerkite training is the first step on the road to the teachers gaining their IKO Powerkite instructor certification whereupon they will start to deliver powerkite training to kids in middle and upper schools throughout Suffolk county in the UK.
Transition instructors Andrew Fisher and Benny de Castillo will be travelling to 4 sites in Suffolk to deliver the training to the teachers over 8 three hour sessions after school each day. The syllabus will cover safety and setting up as well as the opportunity to fly kites of numerous sizes and types to give the teachers a range of experience.
At the end, the teachers will be given action plans for practicing on their own in order to sit the instructor qualification later in the year.
