22/02/2007 - BKSA / IKO partnership Transition's position.
Yesterday, 21 Feb 2007, the IKO released the results of a poll conducted at the start of January where they asked all IKO instructors in the UK their position on whether the IKO should be independent in the UK, whether a partnership of the IKO and BKSA should continue [as currently is the case] or whether we wanted a completely independent BKSA.
The reason for this poll was due to a group of people within the BKSA wishing to become independent from the global training body and to develop and implement their own BKSA course for beginners through the instructor training.
The results that came out yesterday were:
53% of respondants wanted an unchanged partnership of the BKSA and IKO
38% of respondants wanted an IKO working independently of the BKSA
9% of respondants wanted a BKSA working independently of the IKO
As a BKSA and IKO school and one of only 6 schools in the country that has joint recognition, our official line on this topic is as follows:
"Transition Kiteboarding operates in the best interest of our customers, and we will continue to deliver the highest quality instruction and service to our customers, irrespective of partnership or independence of the BKSA and IKO.
In our opinion, it is in the interest of our customers and instructors to have a joint partnership between the BKSA and IKO such that the strengths of both organisations can continue to benefit our clients and staff.
As such Transition Kiteboarding fully endorses the results of this poll being an indication of the will of the instructorship working in the best interests of the community as a whole."
