08/05/2004 - Whitstable goes off!
8am at Whitstable is normally a quiet time - even on a Saturday. The students are generally just arriving and there may be a few people walking their dogs along the beach.
Today wasn't exactly like that. By 8am the water was already filling up as a perfect 20-25 kts northwesterly blew in. By 9:15 there were 20 kiters out and more tipping up all the time from all over Kent, Essex and even a couple from France!
Considering the number of riders out it was to everyone's credit that not a single tangle occurred - though it was close on a number of occassions.
