21/09/2004 - Board Snapping Wind
We mentioned a few weeks ago that the Wind God had decided to wake up a little early and it seems like He had a bit of a sore head today. All the boys were out today on dinky little kites [Lance 9m, Rob 7.5m, Andrew 10m and Mark on a 12m?!?!?!] waving them about in the 25 knot winds trying to become airborne.
Nick got a little too airborne after trying out a 15m kite and decided that it probably wasn't worth it whilst he was "leaning" against a breakwater. After that Nick thought an 11m was a bit more realistic.
Andrew got a bit maxed out on his 10m Toro when the wind decided to go 30kts and he ploughed off down wind being tea-bagged - thanks to Mark who landed his kite.
Mark also got a bit too airborne and nearly landed on Lance after waving his kite in the air so furiously he hit the apex of a jump and went up again after that.
Rob landed so hard after a very sweet transition that he snapped his board - game over after 30 mins.
Lance and Dean were the only ones that made it out with some shred of dignity remaining.
It was a good old ride though!
