Date: 06/07/2007 Photos: A Fisher :: Will the wind ever stop

For seemingly weeks now it has been windy. Conditions for kitesurfing have been fantastic - you only have to look on the kite boarding forums and how few posts there have been in the last month to realise that pretty much everyone that can ride is out riding. So whilst summer is perpetually around the corner, kite surfers and windsurfers are having the best summer for the last 10 years as it is warm but windy.

Andrew decided he would spend the day taking pictures as he had had too many days on the trot either riding, teaching or both. In this session alone about 500 pictures were taken and this was just one of many awesome kite surfing days we've had at Whitstable over the last month. Enjoy!

Date: 03/12/2006 Photos: various :: Arctic Foxes power kite weekend

At the end of 2005, we started the training for 4 women who went on to cross Greenland in May 2006, some of it by kite. The Arctic Foxes as they are known were the first all-female British team to cross the greenland ice sheet, raising money and awareness for Breast Cancer research and pioneering the way forward for women in adventure sports.

We decided to do another project this year with them in order to get women into kite sports and thus hosted a power kite weekend for women only. This was a resounding success and we will be looking at doing more of them in the future.

Date: 26/05/2006 Photos: A Fisher :: Lance Nunn - Wake Skate session May 06

Perfect conditions ruled again today and the beginners didn't quite realise how well they had it. All the local boys skived off early from work to take advantage of the perfect cross shore of 15kts which meant dead flat water to play on.

As the wind died down as evening settled Lance decided he'd pull out a wake skate and have a go. A wake skate for the uninitiated is a small deck of wood with no footstraps and no fins which you ride wearing trainers and play on like a skate board.

Date: 18/06/2005 Photos: A Fisher :: Taster day - Neville, James, Tim and Santiago

A good bunch of students but unfortunately no wind was how today panned out. There was enough to get up some 3.5m Bullet trainer kites which still give you a good pull even in light wind so it wasn't all bad as the boys worked on their kite skills.

James, Neville, Santiago and Tim all took the opportunity to lap up some sunshine and with Santiago putting some flesh on display for the passers by and Neville's cap [pictured at the bottom of the first few shots] getting some glances as well!

Date: 08/10/2004 Photos: Paul Fisher :: A moody Friday at Whitstable

Andrew's parents had come all the way from Sydney, Australia to see what it was he was doing with this kitesurfing thing. They managed to catch him teaching some students out in the water which probably wasn't too impressive.

Thankfully some of the local boys tipped up and weren't going to let the nice northerly wind be used just be the students.Luckily Paul was there to catch some of the action.

Date: 21/09/2004 Photos: A Fisher :: Lance Nunn

Lance is the youngest regular rider in Whitstable and he kiteboards now almost as well as he thinks he does! His riding came on spectacularly last winter and he has even competed this year in the BKSA Juniors Series.

These pictures were taken on a really windy westerly day where Lance was on a 9m Fuel and was pretty powered up. Andrew took photos from "The Street" of the start of the session - then went out riding himself.

Date: 27/08/2004 Photos: A Fisher :: Evening Session in summer

The best thing about the British Summer is the long evenings we have which means you can feasibly stay out kite surfing until about 10pm which is great.

Couple this with 10-15kts of cross-shore wind, lovely flat water an an awesome sunset and you have an epic evening session which Daryl and Drew were out teaching in.

Not much more to say on this but enjoy...

Date: 16/05/2004 Photos: P Evennett :: A nice warm windy Sunday in May

What an indication of the summer to come. A clear, sunny, hot day turned into a rider's dream when the sea breeze kicked in at about 1pm and 20 knots of lovely north easterly goodness poured in from the North Sea.

What was better was the tide was out and the street came up providing the conditions that Whitstable is known for the world over - it's glassy smooth flat water.
