About this course

Over the two days of this course, our instructors will pass on the benefit of their experience to keep you safe and get you confident and self-sufficient as a rider.

Each day is about 6 hours long and is broken up into two lessons, most of which is hands on practical learning.

We start off introducing the sport, teaching you the safety elements of when and where you can land board, the equipment and how to set it all up and some basic physics [don't worry it is all practical and to do with how objects create wind shadows, up draft and shear - very useful unless you have a 20 mile patch of desert with nothing in it!]

After that it's out onto the grass where we put theory into practice. We start by honing your kite skills, learning how to control the kite and generate power. We start out on a bar as this is what most kite boarders use but also show you how handles work as well as some people prefer these for control.

Finally we do the first runs with the board and teach you how to start and stop safely.

The second day is all about building up your skills. We get you to take longer runs, teach you to ride both directions and how to turn. As you start going further you'll need to learn how to pass and the "rules of the road".

We don't need much wind as land kites only take about 5 knots to get going, however all isn't lost as we have some other modules we can do until the wind comes in.

After this course, we encourage all students to join the Power Kite Sorts Federation who will provide you with insurance and then you can get out at various places around the country and go land boarding.
